""The melancholy days are come, the saddest of the year,
of wailing winds, and naked woods and meadows
brown and sear""
William C. Bryant

Hello and welcome to Vermont. Don't see any cows on this page? Well, there a very good reason for that. Despite the current cow trend, Vermont is not just about cows (besides my husband would not be happy if I put any on this page, I think he's a little cowed-out). Vermont is rolling mountains, flowing rivers, little towns, acres upon acres of heavily wooded forests and many farms. Actually Vermont is much, much more than just those but you would have to see it for yourself to understand its beauty.  The town we live in is in the Southern part of Vermont and while on the outside it may seem that we live in a boring, nothing-to-do little town, I could not imaging wanting to live anywhere else.

Well, you are asking, what is there to do around here? I guess it would depend on the season. In the Spring and summer you could go swimming, fishing or boating. Attend any number of regional craft fairs or state fairs. Go on nature hikes or mountain climbing or visit some historic sites, some located only minutes from our town.  Such as Fort #4, a reproduction of a Revolutionary War fort complete with many reenactments, or the Eureka schoolhouse, the first schoolhouse built and used in our town.

There are also many places for shopping, hundreds of restaurants, art galleries and a number of museums.  If you visit in the fall, there are many foliage tours that can take you to some of the most beautiful spots in Vermont. There are many farm stands, bursting with homegrown flowers and vegetables and many fall festivals, including Springfield's famous Apple Festival.  Just remember to bring your camera to take some of those gorgeous images home with you.

Vermont is also very well known for its winter.  There are many, many places to ski and a great number of tourists come here every year to do just that. Besides skiing, there is ice-skating, snowmobiling, walks in a snowy wood and a great deal of other activities.

As you can see, there is no end end to all the activities that can be enjoyed in this state. I have listed but a small number of them here. I guess you'll simply have to visit to experience all that Vermont has to offer.
