State Health Insurance Program Volunteers Sought

Must be comfortable with computers and enjoy a challenge that will have a positive impact on the lives of seniors and the disabled.

This program includes gathering and sharing medication information through Medicare’s web site and comparing drug plans for individuals. We will provide you with in-depth training and support for Medicare’s Drug Benefit as well as state programs that will help with the cost.

If you enjoy interacting with people, keeping your mind stimulated and giving a valuable service, call us for details.

Call Marlene Eddy, State Health Insurance and Assistance Program Coordinator at 1-802-885-6636, or call toll free 1-866-673-8376 and ask for extension 130.

Senior Companions

Senior Companions reach out to home-bound elderly (and others with special needs) and help relieve loneliness through friendly visits and companionship. Senior Companions are “friendly neighbors" who provide companionship, share hobbies and interests, and look forward to sharing time with other seniors.

A Senior Companion is a volunteer who must be over 60 years of age, able to serve 20 hours a week, be income eligible, and have a desire to serve home-bound individuals.

Senior Companion volunteers receive orientation, on-going training, a yearly physical exam, mileage reimbursement, a tax-free stipend, and personal satisfaction from helping others.

If you are interested, please contact Senior Companion Program Coordinator for Windham and Windsor Counties, Jane Wheeler, at 802-257-2338.

Volunteers Needed for Meals on Wheels Programs
In Windsor and Windham Counties

Meals on Wheels is a service designed to help eligible seniors meet their nutritional needs when shopping for or preparing food is difficult due to illness, advancing age or financial concerns.

Delivering the meals and a friendly smile will usually take as little as an hour. Mileage reimbursement is available. We’re looking for caring people who can commit that one hour a week or who are able to act as back-ups on an on-call basis. It’s a great way to share in the community!
If you are interested, contact Cheryl Baxley at 802-885-2655.
