Hrm

So a little while back, Elevator Cops, Seastar NT, and alcohol joined forces to create a strange, impromptu cover of two songs at once: Feel Like Makin' Love, and Runnin With the Devil. Fortunately, it was caught on video, digitized, and burned onto CD. We called it (what else?) Feel Like Makin' Love With The Devil. Yes, it's a funny song, not available in stores. Ask nicely and maybe we'll let you hear it!

Now, I don't really know how Windows Media Player matches the audio files it sees to the database it retrieves information from. But somehow WMP guessed that our unknown Feel Like Makin' Love With The Devil was a Ray Boltz tune called Great is the Lord. I hope you find that as funny as I do. :)

It's not really fair to write such a tantalizing review without providing access to it. How are people supposed to sleep at night knowing that that song is out there- but out of reach?

"Please Briar Root Beer, may I listen to your fine musical mechanations?"

You SAID to ask nicely. :)

OK, ok, since you both wheedled so nicely :)
The Best Damn Song Ever

Good god- my life has only begun today after hearing this song.

Yeah, Ray Boltz is awesome! I had no idea religious music could be so funny.

He sounded a little drunk if you ask me....

Well, I'll be damned if that's not the finest damn pile of dogshit I ever heard kerplop onto the lawn.

Now, of course I listened to it at the same time I was listening to You Enjoy Myself off of a Live One, and the two didn't quite mix. I was wondering just how many mics you actually had over there. Sounds like about 7 vocalists.

Only two mics, actually. The apparent number of vocalists speaks to Dana's diverse vocal training: he's trained with the masters in India, Hamburg, Tokyo, and Seattle. On this track, he "sings" through the whole "song." I come in and start "helping" at the Running With the Devil verse.

diverse I sing dafunnier it is for me.

That is just too damn funny a conincidence. Did it Id the song as "Great is the Lord" when you plugged in the CD burned for you? The way I understand it, commercial CDs have a unique identifier encoded on it, which allows it to be matched to CDDB or whatever database you use for CD lookups. I did not think homebrew CDs even had that identifier unless you specified one. In any case, that coincidence is about as funny as the recording itself :)

Yep, that was from the CD burned for me. Your impression of unique identifier was the same one I had, so I assume WMP just isn't smart enough to recognize if it's NOT there and say "I failed in my mission to identify this song." However, whatever it bases its decision on, it's at least consistent: I downloaded it from the website at work, and it still identifies the same.

I wonder if we should send Ray Boltz a link :)
