Springfield Community Band

Welcome to the web site of the Springfield Community Band!

Beginning with our June 24th concert, the Springfield Community Band will close each concert with one of the nation's most famous summer sing-alongs: "Take Me Out to the Ball Game." This chestnut was penned in 1908 by Jack Norworth and set to the music of Albert von Tilzer. Help us celebrate this musical centennial by singing along to the lyrics below:

"Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack,
I don't care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game."

Springfield Community Band needs new members.  We are looking for concert band musicians, whether or not you are currently playing, to join a group of amateur musicians in presenting Tuesday summer concerts in Springfield and a few other locations.  Sunday night rehearsals start at the end of April.  For more information, call Karen Bailey at 886-5478 or visit our members page and email one of the officers.

The Springfield Community Band for the past 62 years has provided a recreational and cultural/entertainment outlet to the people of Springfield and neighboring towns. Our concerts are a highlight of the summer for many townspeople and usually include appearances in the annual July 4 celebrations. Our policy  welcomes musicians young and old to our group, provides a rare opportunity for musical experience and personal growth to our members.
